With the popularization of reactive power compensation applications and the increasing maturity of related technologies, the wiring methods of power capacitor banks are becoming more diverse and in line with reality. At present, there are common triangle and star connection methods, as well as more innovative double star connection methods and other types of connection methods. In today's article, we mainly introduce the principles that need to be followed when wiring capacitor banks. Let's take a look!
What principles should be followed for the wiring of capacitor banks?
1. Capacitors must be fully discharged
When shutting down for maintenance, it is necessary to ensure that all capacitors are completely discharged in order to minimize electric shock accidents.
In order to ensure the full discharge of the capacitor, in addition to designing a certain discharge device for the capacitor itself to ensure that the residual voltage of the capacitor does not exceed 65V, it is also necessary for the staff to discharge it again with a grounding wire before maintenance.
In addition, when the power capacitor bank exceeds 1000V, it can be used together with a voltage transformer to discharge again through the winding.
2. Can be directly connected to the discharge device
The capacitor bank can be directly and automatically connected to the discharge equipment, without the need to install any switches or fuse devices in between.
Because if the capacitor discharge circuit is equipped with fuses and other devices, when the fuse fails and needs to be disconnected, it will pose a safety hazard to the relevant operators.
3. Power capacitor ground
When the capacitor group is connected to the power grid, each capacitor should be insulated, and the insulation level should be higher than the rated voltage of the system; When the rated voltage of the capacitor is the same as the nominal voltage of the power grid, if the rated voltage is lower than the standard voltage of the power grid, an insulation bracket should be installed.
4. The capacitor bank can be equipped with separate protective devices
Set up separate control and protection devices for the relevant power capacitor groups, and set up separate control and protection devices for the relevant power capacitor groups.
