Dry type capacitor vs oil type capacitor


The biggest difference between dry-type low-voltage capacitors and oil type low-voltage capacitors is the different filling media inside.

Disadvantages of Oil Low Voltage Capacitors


The internal filling of oil and electricity containers - insulating oil, poses a certain risk of combustion and ignition, thus posing a certain risk of fire and explosion during operation.


Compared with dry-type capacitors, oil filled capacitors are often sealed with metal shells, which are prone to corrosion and have a high probability of oil leakage.


In summary, there are safety hazards in the actual operation of oil low-voltage capacitors, and the failure rate is relatively high. Therefore, the "market" is gradually abandoning them; However, high-voltage capacitors are still mainly oil based and are still recommended for use.


Advantages of dry-type power capacitors


Due to the different properties of the internal filling, dry-type oil-free capacitors will not leak oil, have corroded casings, better heat dissipation, and stronger safety and stability. In addition, the production process of dry-type power capacitors is more environmentally friendly, and they will not pollute the environment after being scrapped.


In addition, the performance of dry-type capacitors with different filling media also varies to some extent. Here, I suggest that you first choose capacitors filled with improved black glue and epoxy resin, which have relatively good quality and a better user experience.
